It is a guarantee of joie de vivre, vitality, and pure delight for the senses: the “Wiener Johann Strauß Konzert-Gala.” Since 1996, this Austrian export sensation — the original featuring Kendlinger’s K&K Philharmoniker — has captivated more than 1.5 million music lovers across 19 European countries. A true musical fountain of youth that even kings and emperors would have thoroughly enjoyed — cult status included!
The 2026/27 program will be published here in summer 2026.
About the concert series
In 1996, Matthias Georg Kendlinger launched this tour — now one of the most successful in music history, with well over one million visitors to date. Kendlinger is the founder of the K&K Philharmoniker, the K&K Ballet, and the K&K Opera Choir. Together with his ensembles, he regularly receives bravos and standing ovations in concert halls such as those in Madrid, Zurich, Oslo, Paris, Berlin, and at the Musikverein in Vienna. Each year, Kendlinger personally curates the program, oversees rehearsals, and frequently appears on the conductor’s podium himself. Conducting duties are shared in rotation with his son Max Kendlinger, Taras Lenko, and Ihor Muravyov.
In selected cities, audiences can also experience Kendlinger’s K&K Ballet, co-founded by the unforgettable Viennese choreographer Gerlinde Dill, who choreographed the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert for more than two decades. From 2009 to 2020, Viktor Litvinov, former ballet master of the Kyiv State Opera, followed in her footsteps. This year’s tour will once again feature dancer and choreographer Marianna Stankevych as ballet master.
Alongside the unmistakable evergreen masterpieces of the Strauss dynasty, the program traditionally includes many rare gems. Refreshing humor has also become a hallmark of this concert series. Audiences can, of course, look forward to “The Blue Danube Waltz” and the obligatory encore, the “Radetzky March.”
All in all, the Vienna Johann Strauss Concert Gala enchants its audiences — even on Danish television DR and Germany’s ZDF, where it has been broadcast several times. Many additional highlights can also be found on the YouTube channel of Kendlinger’s K&K Philharmoniker and on the numerous Strauss CDs and DVDs available in the K&K Philharmoniker shop.
